WMFE's The War: Central Florida Stories

The War, directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, tells the story of the Second World War through the personal accounts of a handful of men and women from four American towns.

WMFE would like to collect and tell the story of Central Florida's brave heroes. WMFE's The War: Central Florida Stories  will capture their experiences, preserving their accounts for generations to come.

WMFE's The War: Central Florida Stories will include the following:

  • Four to six segments, each spotlighting one of our veterans, which will air in conjunction with The War series in September.
  • Recording the oral history from as many local veterans as possible. These personal accounts will be provided to the U.S. Library of Congress and to the Orange County Regional History Center.
  • Develop a long-form program, showcasing many Central Florida's heroes, which will air on WMFE.

Not only does this project honor our veterans, our local heroes, but it also educates our children on the bravery, endurance and sacrifices they made during The War .
